Barb is a native of Hanover Park, Illinois with family roots in northwest Illinois. Her grandparents were residents of nearby Freeport, Illinois. For a period spanning 15 years, Barb was employed as a church secretary in Bartlett, Illinois, creating a foundation of public service. Barb then accepted a position with a Chicago suburban law firm specializing in real estate transactions.
It was there that Barb caught the real estate “bug”, assisting one of the law firm’s principals in working with clients buying and selling property. With her husband, Raoul “Jeep” Hill, retiring from the Hanover Park police force after 30 years of service, Barb decided to spread her wings on a new venture to take classes in real estate… and the whirlwind began.
At the same time, with their children grown, in 2005 they decided to sell their home, buy a boat and move to quieter, more secure surroundings. In their extensive search for a home, they were drawn to the beauty and tranquility of Lake Carroll. Just months after purchasing a home at Lake Carroll, Barb accepted a position as office manager with Fawnridge Realty, Inc. With the encouragement of Owner/broker Wayne Wilhelm and after much hard work, Barb received her Realtors license in 2008. She soon discovered her love of finding the right home for her clients.
Barb’s life has been one of giving with a servant’s heart – to her family, to members of her church, to clients at the law firm, and now to her clients at Fawnridge Realty. Barb said, “I’m one of those brokers who would love to be on call and available 24 hours a day for my clients. I’ve experienced the frustrations and uncertainty that goes with buying or selling family homes, and I seem to put myself in their shoes to find just the right fit for their needs.”
“We just fell in love with Lake Carroll from the moment we first drove around. We knew immediately that this would be our home for the rest of our lives.” Barb’s grandchildren live nearby in Lanark and attend the local Eastland schools, excelling in academics, volleyball and football. Barb, her husband and grandchildren all take an active part in the Lake Carroll community.
Barb continued, “My husband and I have volunteered as mentors at the Shannon Middle School for the past 5 years and I’m actively involved in church ministries.” Her service carries over to membership in several Lake Carroll clubs, but her spare time now revolves around her two dogs that she trained as therapy dogs. She regularly takes the dogs to work with elementary school kids, nursing homes and other facilities of special needs.
